The Football Federation of Sri Lanka is preparing to resume its activities in the national football squad from January 8 under the guidance of the National Sports Medicine Institute.
Following the outbreak of a second wave of COVID-19 in the country, the FIFA suspended all its activities untill then. Because of that residential training of the National Football Squad was suspended in the late Augues 2020.
Now the traning pool has become a practical necessity with the upcoming fixtures of Sri Lanka Football. This is because Sri Lanka is scheduled to play two more matches in the second round of the Asian Region at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, which resumes in March 2021.
The three matches are schedules to take place from March 26, according to the World Cup schedule reviced after the global Covid pandamic. The three matches will be against North Korea on March 26, agains South Korea on March 31 in Colombo and against Lebanon on June 4 in Lebanon.
