Sri Lanka Head Coach Share Thoughts After the Draw Against U19 Squad

Sri Lanka National Team played a friendly match against Sri Lanka U19 Football Team at Kelaniya Football Ground. The match ended in the full time as 1 - 1. National team got the goal at 62nd minute of the game and U19 Young Ratnam Star Aman Faizer equalised at 88th minute.

The U19 team played well as per their coaches strategy.. Defending in their own half and then counter attacks .. Which the youths did very well ..

On the National team's part on this match was , to give the youngsters a pressure match as they will be facing tough opponents in Nepal.. My briefing to the national players were such, to give the youngsters maximum pressure in such bad ground conditions.. We played this match under such bad conditions to support the youngsters.. If not I would have refused to play the match ..

As we the national team are focused on the world cup qualifier against tougher teams , international size fast pitch ..

Yeah true enough this kind of practice matches should have been informed to the technical committee so that they would have had a clear picture of the match..

Technical views from my side :-

The senior team had 80 percent ball possession , missed about six scoring  chances, Shabeer scored a fantastic goal by a header in the second half ..

Like wise the young lads played well too.  But these practice matches should be played in fast and international size pitches , so that both teams would have benefited ..

I think we should play another match ..
